MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Alverno cross country team has adjusted its opening-weekend plans as the Flyer Early Bird Invitational has moved its start time to 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4 due to anticipated weather conditions. As a result of the schedule change, the Inferno will no longer compete at the meet in Romeoville, Illinois.

The Flyer Early Bird was originally scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start, but the updated schedule will prevent Alverno from participating. The meet was set to serve as the Inferno's opening competition of the 2026 season after the Vic Godfrey Open was canceled earlier this week.

Alverno will now open its season on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Ken Weidt Cross Country Classic hosted by Concordia Wisconsin.
