MILWAUKEE, Wis. - As a part of the 2026 Division III Week from April 6-12, Alverno College Athletics will be unveiling a new Q&A each day during the week to highlight some of the student-athletes at Alverno who embody the ideals of a Division III student-athlete. Day One features Kate Peabody of the Alverno cross country and softball teams.




Q: Why Division III?
I chose Division Three because I wanted to be able to fully focus on getting my education degree and still play softball competitively.

Q: What is your favorite part about being a Division III student-athlete? 
I enjoy the opportunities to continue to get better at my sport without compromising the time and effort needed to be successful in my degree.
 
Q: What core values do you associate with being a Division III student-athlete? 
I think a focus on being a student before an athlete is really important to me.
 
Q: Do you find it challenging to balance athletics and academics? 
No, I think our athletics team is great about helping to balance athletics and academics.
 
Q: In one word, how would you describe being a student-athlete? 
Committed
 
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of being a Division III student-athlete?
Being able to continue playing the sports I care about.
 
Q: What has been your favorite moment here at Alverno, either as a student or as an athlete?
My favorite moment so far was when Alverno Softball took a run at Rockford and scored 16 runs.
 
Q: What does it mean to you to represent Alverno on and off the field, court, etc.?
Representing Alverno on and off the field means to have good sportsmanship and conduct yourself on and off the field in an appropriate manner.
