Verona, Wis. - The Inferno opened Northern Athletic Collegiate play on the road this afternoon against Edgewood, with the Eagles taking the games by a 13-2, 14-3 victory.
After Edgewood took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the second inning the Eagles added five additional runs to take a 11-0 advantage.
In the top of the fourth inning
Emily Anguiano singled to right field to score
Giselle Moreno to make the score 11-1.
Alverno added its final run of the contest in the top of the fifth inning when
Alyssa Hubli singled to center field to score
Eva Tromm.
The Eagles tacked on another two runs to take a 13-2 lead, closing out the game to register the win in five innings.
The second game resulted in a 14-3 decision in favor of the Eagles. Edgewood held Alverno to just three runs in the contest. The Inferno finished the contest registering four hits.
Alverno will travel to Beloit, Wisconsin for a non-conference matchup against Beloit College on Wednesday, March 26 at Strong Complex Softball Field. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
