Volleyball Wraps Up 2025 Season at Concordia Wisconsin

MEQUON, Wis. – The Alverno College volleyball team wrapped up its 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon, falling 3–0 (25–15, 25–9, 25–15) to Concordia University Wisconsin inside the R. John Buuck Field House in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action.

Freshman Holly King (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca) led the Inferno offensively with seven kills, while also adding five digs, and freshman Carley Juneau (Milwaukee, Wis./St. Francis) had eight assists and five digs, also adding a block assist for Alverno. Defensively, freshman Mary Needham (San Tan Valley, Ariz./Poston Butte) led the way with six digs, also adding two kills, while fellow freshman Sofia Mitchell (Denver, Colo./Denver School of Science & Technology: Montview) added a solo block and a block assist.

The Falcons established control early, hitting .387 in the opening set while limiting Alverno to a .148 mark despite a balanced attack from King and Needham. Concordia carried that momentum into the second frame, using a dominant .394 hitting percentage and a 10–1 run midway through the set to take a 2–0 lead in the match, before closing things out for the sweep.

The Inferno finished the season at 3–23 overall (0-13 NACC), while Concordia Wisconsin improved to 14–12 overall and 10–3 in conference action. The Falcons clinched the fifth seed in the conference tournament and travel to fourth-seeded Lakeland for their next contest.

Alverno's best stretch came in the third and final set, as the Inferno played their most competitive set of the afternoon. Behind a serving run for King, Alverno took a 9-7 lead early in the match and stayed within striking distance through the midway point. However, the Falcons' consistency proved too much as they took control with a late 7-0 run and then closed out the match with a 25–15 win.

Paige Stickney led all players with 13 kills and had a .476 hitting percentage, while also adding an ace and a solo block. McKenna Oetzman had a game-high 27 assists, while Brianna Lundt also had a game-high 23 digs.
