MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Alverno College volleyball team delivered the first win for head coach Neilee Newton on Friday.
Alverno rolled to a 3-1 nonconference victory over Mount Mary University at the Blue Angel Bash at the Bloechl Center. The Inferno downed Mount Mary 17-25, 27-25, 25-13, 25-21.
With the victory, Newton got her first win as a collegiate head coach.
Senior
Rolin West led the attack for the Inferno. West had 27 kills for a sizzling .444 hitting percentage. She added two aces and four blocks.
Izzy Gianniou and newcomer
Iylana Johnson both contributed six kills each respectively.
Alverno setter
Izzy Gianniou picked up her first double-double of the season with 27 assists and 10 digs for the Inferno, and
Sharisty Kooch had a match-high 14 digs.
Johnson also had 14 digs. Freshman Elyse Kozikowski recorded four assists.
