Fond du Lac, Wis. (September 12, 2024) --- In its first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match of the season, the Alverno College Inferno women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss at Marian University at Fond du Lac High School on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Following the defeat, Alverno drops to 0-1 overall on the early.
 
The Sabres captured a 1-0 lead following wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings in doubles action. Morgan Golabowski and Riley Spencer captured Alverno's 8-3 victory in the No.1 doubles spot.
 
Morgan Golabowski got things going for the red and black capturing a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Melana Brunton in the No. 1 singles battle at the No. 2 position. Riley Spencer tied the match 2-2 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 before Marian rounded out the event with wins at No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
 
Alverno (0-1, 0-1 NACC) quickly returns to action with a Saturday NACC home battle hosting Wisconsin Lutheran College at McKinley Park. The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start and following the game the tennis team will travel to face Concordia Wisconsin at 3 p.m.
