Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis.- The Alverno Basketball team saw a total 129 points scored between both teams as they took on the Vikings of Lawrence University. The Inferno came up short with a final score of 88-51 but continued to improve with each quarter as the game progressed.
 
The Inferno started with only four points scored in the first quarter split by Kyla Jamerson and Dionna Woodson, with the first points coming from Woodson nearly three minutes into the game. However, the defense collected ten rebounds in the first quarter, edging out the Vikings who had eight.
 
The second quarter saw 12 points to bring the half total to 16 as Woodson led the Inferno with eight as Alexia Harris and Riley Spencer each added baskets. After the half the Inferno continued to improve as the team added 13 to their total, but Alverno saw a huge jump as they entered into the final 10 minutes of play.
 
In the fourth quarter, Kyla Jamerson found her way to the basket multiple times as she ended the game with 11 points and 4 rebounds in her 22 minutes of play. Riley Spencer also had a hot hand as she finished the game with 10 points, 6 of those points coming from the 3 point line. Although Dionna Woodson did not add any points to her halftime total, she accumulated a season and career high 11 rebounds.
 
Following suit, Haley Youngblood had three rebounds but totaled four points on the night, her own season high so far with the Inferno. Not only did Youngblood record a season high, but junior Morgan Golabowski also produced season highs in points (8) and rebounds (3). Sophomore Morgan Whitten led the team with a season high 35 minutes played, as she established 5 points and four rebounds.
 
Alverno hopes to be back to full strength Thursday, December 14th as they play their final home game of 2023 against the Sabercats of Maranatha Baptist. Tip off is set for 6pm CST as the Inferno celebrate the holiday season with Ugly Sweater Night.
