MADISON, Wis. – The Alverno basketball team traveled to Edgewood to take on the host Eagles at the Todd Wehr Edgedome on Saturday afternoon and fell by the score of 75-54.

Alverno was led by junior
Alicia Hornbuckle, who had a season-best 20 points in the effort as she went 9-for-15 from the field including one three-pointer. She also added three rebounds and one assist in the effort. Freshman
Eniya Madden also played the full 40 minutes and had 15 poitns with two steals and two assists to go along with three rebounds.

Keeshya Bellows had 12 points as she connected on five field goals, while adding a team-best six rebounds and two assists. Senior
Sara Redlin had three points, while junior
Mikayla Tessay and freshman Andie Reutgen both had a bucket. The Inferno also got four rebounds apiece from both junior
Dom Hudson and sophomore
Brittney Hondel.

Bellows connected on the first Inferno basket of the afternoon as she took a pass from Redlin to trim the Edgewood lead to 4-2. Hornbuckle followed with a jumper on another dish from Redlin to even the score at four. The Eagles took an 11-point lead at 21-10 with two minutes left in the opening quarter, before Madden connected on a layup to pull back with single-digits. Edgewood added a pair of late field goals to take a 25-12 lead after the first quarter.

Edgewood extended its lead to 20 points with 6:52 to go in the half before Madden kickstarted the offense with a three-pointer off of a Bellows feed. Redlin followed with her own three-pointer before Edgewood made one of two at the free-throw line. Bellows added a jumper followed by a basket by Hornbuckle and a free throw by Madden to cut the lead back down to 10. Edgewood swelled its lead back to 14 at 44-30 as the half came to a close.

In the third quarter, the Eagles extended its 14-point lead to a 33-point lead as Edgewood outscored Alverno 21-2 in the third. The Inferno closed the gap in the fourth quarter as Alverno outscored its host by a 22-10 score to cap off the scoring at 74-54.

Alverno (3-14, 3-9 NACC) will return home for two-straight home contests beginning on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., when the Inferno welcome the Lakeland Muskies to Reiman Gymnasium.
