ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – After a lengthy hiatus, the Alverno basketball team got back on the floor on Saturday afternoon as the team visited the Crown Storm. The Inferno fell to their hosts by a 68-50 margin.

Eniya Madden, who tallied a team-best 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Senior
Sara Redlin and junior
Alicia Hornbuckle each had 11 points, as the duo each had four field goals apiece with three of Redlin's coming from beyond the arc.

Keeshya Bellows each had two points on the night, which was also the first appearance of the season for Hondel.

Redlin led the Inferno with eight rebounds, while Madden led the team with three assists on the game. Bellows had three blocks in the effort while Hudson's quickness earned her a pair of steals on the afternoon.

Alverno trailed by just a bucket after the opening 10 minutes as neither side was able to get their offense going in the first quarter as the Storm led 12-10. The Inferno went into the halftime break trailing by six as Alverno was outscored 15-11 in the second quarter, trailing by a 27-21 score at the break.

The Inferno took their first lead of the game with 7:20 left in the second quarter as Tessay connected on a layup off a dish by Hudson, but the Storm responded with a three ball to take a 17-15 lead right back.

As play progressed to the second half the Inferno opened the scoring with a jumper by Madden off of a turnover by the Storm. A few possessions later Alverno trimmed the lead to one at 28-27 as Redlin connected on a three-pointer as she took the feed from Hornbuckle.

Hudson gave Alverno the lead back midway through the third quarter on a layup off a quick feed from Bellows as the Inferno led by a 31-30 score. However the bucket was answered by nine-straight point by Crown as the home team took an eight-point advantage at 39-31.

After trailing by eight heading into the final quarter, it was Crown to add-on late as the Storm outscored the Inferno 24-14 in the final period to close out the scoring as the Storm picked up the 68-50 victory.

Alverno (0-3) will return home for its first home game of the 2019 season on Tuesday evening, which also kicks off the conference slate as the Inferno will welcome the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech to Reiman Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tip.
