CHICAGO – The Alverno soccer team traveled to Chicago on Saturday afternoon and battled both the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech, while also battling the elements due to constant rain showers. Freshman Kenzie Bermudez added eight saves to her season total as she played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Inferno. Also playing the full slate were senior Mackenzie Mathies, sophomores Angela Chobanian and Shaye Wolfe, as well as Bermudez. Junior Alexandra Donowa, sophomore Ziri Hernandez-Bustos, as well as freshmen Andy Lopez, Sami Martinez, Katie Shipley all played at least 85 minutes apiece in the match.

Illinois Tech scored twice in the opening two minutes, before adding eight more goals in the opening period. Another six goals were added by the Scarlet Hawks as the team locked up a home game and top-four seed in NACC postseason play.

Alverno will look to regroup at home for the final two matches of the season beginning on Tuesday, October 29, when the Inferno host the Rockford Regents for a 3:30 p.m. start on the Alverno Soccer Field.
