MILWAUKEE, WIS.—The Alverno College basketball squad fell to conference foe MSOE Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders opened the first quarter with a 9-2 run. A steal and layup from Gabby Hood cut the MSOE advantage to 9-4 at the five minute mark. A Raider layup extended the MSOE effort at 17-6 heading to the second quarter.

The Inferno slowly cut away at the MSOE lead with a three point field goal from Mackenzie Mathies. Another three point field goal from Kendra Patterson shrunk the Raider lead to 28-14. At the 1:33 mark, a three point shot from Dani Hood chipped away at the MSOE advantage but the Raiders were able to beat the buzzer to head into halftime with a 33-19 advantage.

Back-to-back layups for the Inferno helped sliced into the Raider lead at 40-23. A five point swing for Alverno helped the Inferno effort but MSOE responded connecting on back-to-back layups. The Raiders beat the buzzer once again to head into the final quarter up 54-32.

MSOE started the fourth quarter with a 6-2 run extending the Raider advantage to 66-34. A final three point field goal for the Raiders stopped the Inferno from gaining momentum. The Raiders took the NACC contest by a final score of 69-39. 

Offensively, the Inferno were led by senior Gabby Hood who finished the contest with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Junior Mackenzie Mathies collected 11 points and two rebounds.

Alverno College travels to St. Petersburg, Fla. for the St. Pete Classic with the first game set to tip-off against Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 5 p.m.
