MILWAUKEE -- Four Alverno College players scored in double figures as the Inferno cruised to an 82-54 victory over visiting Edgewood College Wednesday night inside Reiman Gymnasium.

Alverno (3-3, 1-2 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) never trailed in the contest as it picked up its first league win of the season with season-high shooting percentages of 49.2 from the field and 76.2 from the free-throw line. The host team also had its best night of the 2015-16 campaign handling the ball with a season-low 14 turnovers.

"We took care of the ball, our pace was great, and I thought we defended well," Alverno Head Coach Brad Duckworth said. "We did a lot of fairly good things tonight -- I'm proud of us."

Mollie Mikyska secured her second consecutive double-double as she led all players with game-highs of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Gabby Hood nearly registered a double-double of her own with nine points and nine assists. The Inferno point guard also snagged six board and had a game-best four steals.

Rookies Mackenzie Mathies and Donna Zehner added 12 and 11 points, while senior Brooke McBain added 10 against her former squad.

Alverno led by just eight after the first quarter, but extended its lead to 21 at halftime, and 37 at the end of the third. An early fourth-quarter 3-pointer by Zehner gave the Inferno its largest lead of the contest, 76-37.

The Eagles (1-4, 0-3 NACC) were led in scoring by Rachel Pope's 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

"We'll have to move forward as we move on to Saturday, but we saw a really good performance tonight," added Duckworth.

Alverno hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday at 7 p.m. in a NACC showdown of crosstown foes.
