Box Score PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- Alverno College held host Lakeland College to 30 percent shooting from the field en route to a 70-51 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference victory Wednesday night in Woltzen Gymnasium.
Devon Gorman was 9-of-15 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line to lead the Inferno (11-5, 8-3 NACC) and all scorers with 29 points.
Jamie Hoernke had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Ashley Berry added 12 points for visiting Alverno, who shot 45 percent from the field and made 77 percent of its free throws (23-of-30).
Point guard Kristen Speerschneider posted game-highs with seven assists and four steals to direct the Inferno attack that limited the Muskies (6-9, 3-7) to just a single double-digit scorer.
Leah Eisner led Lakeland with 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and had a team-high seven rebounds.
After a dismal 29-percent shooting performance in the first half, the Inferno made 61 percent of its second-half shots, including a 4-of-7 performance from the 3-point arc.
Alverno returns to action on Tuesday as it hosts Concordia University Chicago in Reiman Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
