Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Lake Forest College used a 15-4 run at the end of the first half to increase their lead to double digits en route to a 92-58 victory over visiting Alverno College in the second semifinal game of the Forester Tip-Off Tournament.
"Lake Forest came out and really played a confident basketball game offensively," Alverno head coach Brad Duckworth said. "Anytime a team can shoot 60 percent from the floor, either you're giving up a ton of layups or they're shooting tremendously. I don't think we gave up a lot of layups tonight."
The host Foresters (1-1) shot over 60 percent in each half, including 44 percent (7-of-16) from the 3-point arc. Emily Weber led four Foresters in doubles with a game-high 18 points, going 4-of-5 on 3-point field goals.
The Inferno (1-1) shot only 37 percent from the field, and 57 percent from the free throw line. Alverno attempted 35 shots from the line, but connected on only 20, missing on a number of front ends of bonus tries.
Although the Inferno forced Lake Forest into 32 turnovers, Alverno committed 26 of their own and were outrebounded 50-26.
Junior guard Gabby Allen (Milwaukee, Wis./Bay View) led Alverno with 15 points, while senior guard Lisa Sorgi (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield) added 10 on a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line and had a team-high four assists and three steals.
The Inferno will play in the tournament consolation game tomorrow at 1 p.m. versus Concordia University Wisconsin (0-1). The Falcons lost to Loras College in the first semifinal game, 79-65.
