Inferno Volleyball's schedule changed for Buc Blast Tournament

BELOIT, Wis. -- The Alverno College women's volleyball team's schedule for Friday and Saturday's Buc Blast Tournament hosted by Beloit College has been modified.

Match start time for the Inferno's second match on Friday against William Penn University has been pushed back to 8 p.m. from its originally scheduled 6 p.m. start time.

For Saturday's matches the Inferno will now face Coe College at 12 p.m., and the match with Northland College has been changed to 2 p.m.
 

Inferno Volleyball drops NAC match to Dominican, 3-0

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Alverno College women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Dominican University in Northern Athletics Conference play on the road, falling to 0-8 on the season on Thursday.

The Inferno (0-2 NAC) fell behind the curve early in the match, dropping the first set 25-9, and were never quite able to hit their stride against the Stars, posting 25-13, 25-10 losses in the second and third sets.

Inferno volleyball shut down by Lakeland

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- The Alverno College women's volleyball team suffered through a tough loss in its 2009 Northern Athletics Conference debut, falling to Lakeland College, 3-0, on Wednesday night.

The Inferno (0-7, 0-1 NAC) seemed to have some difficulties getting into their stride on offense, registering just 13 kills in the match and dropping the first set, 25-8.

Inferno Volleyball drops pair at home-opening triangular

Rachel DiedrichMILWAUKEE -- The Alverno College women's volleyball team fell to Mount Mary College, 3-1, and Lawrence University, 3-0, as the Inferno hosted a non-conference triangular for its home opener on Wednesday afternoon in the Reiman Gymnasium.

Although an inexperienced Alverno squad is learning volumes with each passing match, Alverno head coach Crystal McClure was hoping the knowledge would come just a bit sooner.

"I was disappointed in the way we played against Mount Mary," McClure said. "I wish we would have played as well as we did against Lawrence against Mount Mary."

Inferno Volleyball falls to UW-Superior and Ripon to close out Muskie Classic

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- The Alverno College women’s volleyball team closed out a tough opening weekend of play at the Lakeland College Muskie Classic, dropping a pair of matches, 3-0, to UW-Superior and Ripon College on Saturday.

The Inferno (0-4 overall) had a tough time on offense yesterday, but were able to put up better efforts in their second two matches. In its first match of the day against UW-Superior, Alverno dropped a more competitive first set, 25-18, before falling 25-14 and 25-12 in the final two sets. The Inferno also played a closer set with Ripon in their second match, falling 25-17 in the second set and notching 25-14, 25-11 losses in the other two sets.

Kochanowski set a single-game school record and had a game-winning double-overtime goal as the Inferno went 2-0 on the week. In a 6-0 win over Mt. Mary, Kochanowski scored the first five goals of the game and assisted on the final one for 11 total points, breaking the previous single-game record of 10. On Saturday in a 2-1 double-overtime win at North Central (Minn.) she knocked in the game winner in the 109th minute for the victory.
