MADISON, Wis. -- The Alverno tennis team concluded its season at the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Individual Tournament this weekend at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
Abigail Kohal (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) advanced the furthest of all the Inferno players, into the round of 16, where she lost in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8.
Kohal (8-9 in singles play) breezed by her first round opponent, Benedictine's Ashley Shall, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, as well as her second round opponent, Tanja Valentic of Rockford, 6-1, 6-0.
Lin Liu (Greenfield, Wis.) was the only other Inferno to win a match in the tournament, defeating Amina Seitahunova of Rockford, 6-0, 6-0. Liu (4-12) was then on the other side of the same score with a second-round loss to Edgewood's Shae Beckwith.
