HOWARDS GROVE, Wis. -- Alverno lost a Northern Athletics Conference dual match to host Lakeland, 6-3, this evening in Howards Grove, its second-straight loss.
The Inferno (4-4, 4-7 NAC) began the dual by capturing only one of the three doubles matches as Damanique Drake (Milwaukee/Rufus King) and Joanna Stanula (Oak Creek, Wis.) took the No. 3 match 8-2.
Tricia Goska (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and Abigail Kohal (Wauwatosa, Wis./West) dropped the top doubles match by a close score of 9-7 to their Muskie (3-5, 3-5) opponents.
Alverno won only two singles bouts as Lin Liu (Greenfield, Wis.) took her match in three sets (6-4, 4-6, 10-2) for her first win in the No. 3 spot, and rookie Charmaine Clark (Milwaukee/Believers In Christ) got her first career singles victory in straight sets (6-1, 6-0).
The Inferno continue conference play on Saturday versus MSOE at 2 p.m. at McKinley Park.
