MILWAUKEE – On Tuesday, the Alverno cross country team has announced its 2019 slate of competition for the upcoming fall season. Last season, Alverno posted its best team score at the NACC Championship since 2014, with a score of 323 under the direction of Tim Hanson who completed his fifth season during his second term as Alverno's head coach.
This year's season will once again culminate with the 2019 NACC Championships, which returns to Greenfield Park in nearby West Allis on Saturday, November 2 at 11 a.m. and is hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran.
Throughout the season Alverno will compete in five events leading up to the conference championship, beginning with the Tom Barry Invitational hosted by St. Norbert College in Green Bay. The race will start at 11 a.m. at Colburn Park on August 31.
A week later the Inferno will take part in the Ken Weidt Cross Country Classic, hosted by Concordia Wisconsin at 11 a.m. on the campus course in Mequon.
Following a two-week break Alverno gets back to action at the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by Division II Wisconsin-Parkside. Last season the Inferno posted their best team scored of 239, while finishing in eighth position in the final team standings.
As the calendar shifts to October, the Inferno will get their first look at Greenfield Park as Alverno will take part in the Warrior Invitational, also hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran. The race will begin at 11 a.m. as Alverno looks to prepare for the conference championship four weeks later.
On Saturday, October 19 Alverno heads back to Colburn Park in Green Bay for this year's Private College Championships, which is hosted by St. Norbert and takes place at 11 a.m.
After a week off to prepare the season will come to a close at the NACC Championships at Greenfield Park at 11 a.m. Last season the Inferno finished in 11th position at the conference championship meet with a team score of 338 and will look to improve upon the standing heading into the 2019 campaign.
