KENOSHA, Wis. – After a weekend off the Alverno cross country team was back in action at the Lucian Rosa Invitational hosted by UW-Parkside on Saturday morning. The Inferno took eighth place of the 10 teams to place entries at the event.
The Inferno had 239 points as a team with six individual entries taking part at the event. Host Wisconsin-Parkside as one of only two NCAA Division II schools at event picked up the win in convincing fashion with the top-five individual finishers for a team score of 15.
Alverno was led by junior Laura Sierra, who took 63rd overall with a time of 30:45.4; classmate Carina Jimenez took second for the Inferno as she crossed the tape with a time of 37:15.9. Freshman Isabel Ovalle notched a third place finish for the Inferno as she clocked in at 38:25.0.
Junior Leah Badke was fourth for Alverno with a time of 39:10.9, followed by sophomore Tanya Salentine (41:06.0) and senior Elizabeth Gamillo (42:17.0) to round out the runners on the day for Alverno.
Amongst the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference teams competing at the event; MSOE was fourth overall, while Concordia Chicago took fifth. Mount Mary, who is a NACC affiliate in cross country, finished sixth, while Lakeland took seventh just ahead of Alverno.
The Inferno will wrap-up the month of September on Saturday at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran at 11 a.m. on the 29th.
