Cross Country Takes Ninth at Ken Weidt Classic at Concordia Wisconsin


MEQUON, Wis. – The Alverno cross country team season continued on Saturday at the Ken Weidt Cross Country Classic hosted by Concordia Wisconsin. The Inferno took ninth of the nine teams competing at the event.

Leading the way for the Inferno was junior Laura Sierra, who paced the team with a time of 32:31.4, which was good enough for 37th place overall amongst the 72 runners in the field.

Next to finish for Alverno was freshman Isabel Ovalle, who notched a time of 38:21.1 in her circuit. Junior Carina Jimenez finished third for the Inferno after clocking in with a 39:57.1.

Junior Leah Badke was next to cross the finish line for the Inferno as she made her way around the course in 40:22.0. The fifth finisher for the team was sophomore Tanya Salentine with a 43:18.8, while senior Elizabeth Gamillo followed with a 44:09.4.

Picking up the win at the event was Ripon, who led the field with the top three individual finishers and had a team score of 43, edging out Moody Bible with 45. Host Concordia Wisconsin was the third team to finish with a team score of 68; the Falcons were the top team of five NACC schools competing at the event.

Alverno will be off next weekend but returns to action on Saturday, September 22 as the team heads to UW-Parkside to compete in the Lucian Rosa Invitational at 10:30 a.m.
