The 2017 Alverno College cross country team continues to grow and the program is developing forward.

Third-year head coach Megan Krueger's squad includes three returners and welcomes five newcomers to a team that finished 11th at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships last season.

"Practice is really progressing well," said Krueger. "I'm already seeing increases in people's progress, so [the preseason] is going really well."

Senior Diana Munguia, junior Carissa Babcock and sophomore Leah Badke are the returners on the 2017 team. Munguia competed in five events, Babcock competed in a pair of races last season while Badke, the returning Inferno Award winner, ran in six events.

Newcomers to the team include junior Elizabeth Gamillo, sophomore Sarah Snoubar, and freshmen Maya Jean Kasch, Leslie Ortiz and Tanya Salentine.

The Inferno runners open the season Saturday, September 2 at the Tom Barry Invite hosted by St. Norbert College at Colburn Park in Green Bay. Four additional meets follow before the NACC Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Concordia University Wisconsin close out the campaign.
