Inferno Competes At Ken Weidt Classic

MEQUON, Wisconsin -- The Alverno College cross country team continues its season with a 13th-place finish at the Ken Weidt Classic hosted by Concordia University Saturday afternoon.

The Inferno tallied 384 points, 60 behind 12th-place finisher Concordia University Chicago. The host Falcons won their own event with a team score of 35 points, as they placed all seven runners in the top 20.

Layla Schmidt paced Alverno with a time of 31 minutes, 17.9 seconds. Amy Naborowski followed right behind with a personal-best time of 31:19.9 in the Inferno's first 6K race of the season, while Carina Jimenez finished in 34:20.6.

Destiny Shore (34:40), Leah Badke (34:53), Rebecca Skrobis (41:02) and Samantha Laabs (42:08) rounded out the times for Alverno.

After a week off, the Inferno gets back to action on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Beloit College's Olde English Classic.
