Alverno Runs At Tom Barry Invitational

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin -- The Alverno College cross country team opened its season with a 14th-place finish at the 2016 Tom Barry Invitational hosted by St. Norbert College Saturday morning at Colburn Park.

The Inferno tallied 397 points, just 12 off 13th-place finisher Marian University. The host Green Knights won their own event with a team score of 23 points, as they placed all seven runners in the top 10.

Amy Naborowski paced Alverno with a time of 26 minutes, 16.5 seconds. Layla Schmidt followed right behind with a time of 26:39.6 in the 5K race, while Carina Jimenez finished in 29:01.9.

Leah Badke (30:06), Samantha Laabs (30:04), Bailey Jedrzejewski (40:50) and Diana Munguia (40:50) rounded out the times for the Inferno.

Next up is the Ken Weidt Classic at Concordia University Wisconsin next Saturday at 12 p.m.
