MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College Director of Athletics Brad Duckworth has announced the promotion of Megan Krueger to head coach of the cross country program. Krueger served as assistant coach of the Inferno the past two seasons.
"Megan functioned as the day-to-day head coach for the last two years, so moving in to the head coaching position won't come as much of a stretch," Duckworth said. "She is actively involved on campus already serving as faculty in the biology department and I am confident she will continue to grow our program."
In both seasons as an assistant with the Inferno, the team has placed 10th at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships, improved from its 11th place finish the previous three seasons.
"I am thrilled and thankful for this new opportunity to develop and strengthen the Alverno cross country team by recruiting new students and strengthening the performances of student-athletes currently on the team," Krueger said about her new role.
Krueger has been part of the Alverno community for nearly 14 years in a variety of capacities including student, instructor and coach. She received her bachelor's degree in environmental science from Alverno in 2009 and her master's degree in adult education from Alverno in '14. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in adult education.
"I am thankful for this opportunity and I am looking forward to the exciting transformation of the Alverno cross country team," added Krueger.
