Inferno Places 5th At Olde English Classic

BELOIT, Wis. -- Alverno College raced to a fifth-place finish in the team's first 5K of the year at Beloit College's Olde English Classic Saturday morning at Leeson Park.

The host Bucs won the eight-team event with 19 points, while the Inferno's 141 was better than three teams, including Sauk Valley College (160), Milwaukee School of Engineering (160) and Indiana University-Northwest (181).

Katie Yun paced the Inferno with a 17th-place finish. The junior crossed the finish line in 23 minutes, 4.5 seconds.

Jamie Hoernke earned 22nd place and set a personal record in the 5K with a time of 23:41.3.

Alli Weil had a 24:55.2, followed by Tiffani Brenneman's 25:04.0, Kayla Soliday's 28:52.9 and Courtney Cornella-Carlson's 31:48.5.

Beloit's Karen Jones won the individual title with a time of 20:38.8.

Next week the Inferno runners stay close to home at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Warrior Invite at Greenfield Park. The 6K race is set for a 12 p.m. start.
