Dan Dresen takes over as the eighth head coach in Alverno volleyball history, and will enter his first season as head coach in 2019.

Prior to his taking over as head coach, Dresen was a four-year member of the volleyball staff as an assistant coach and also served as the department's head golf coach for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

On the sidelines with the volleyball staff from 2015-18, Dresen helped the team to 20 wins. Following the 2017 season, Jessica Wewers earned All-Conference accolades from the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference as Wewers amassed 248 kills and had a hitting percentage of .289 over 95 sets in 26 matches that season.

During his two-year term as the department's head golf coach, Dresen helped lead the team to new levels of success, posting the team's best showing in the NACC Championship in the fall of 2018 with a three-day score of 1,427, while the team also posted it's best-ever team score with a 442 on September 21 against Mount Mary.

Since August of 2010 Dresen has also been the director of the Wisconsin Juniors Volleyball Club based out of Pleasant Prarie, Wisconsin and served as the boys club director from 2012 through 2016. In June of 2019, Dresen was named as one of the top club volleyball coaches in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as the 16s Coach of the Year.

From August of 2013 through March of 2017, Dresen served as the boy’s varsity volleyball coach at Union Grove High School in Union Grove, Wisconsin, a program that he was responsible for starting. He was responsible for organizing all aspects under IWAA rules and regulations.

Dresen graduated from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois in May 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, before adding his Postgraduate Degree in Business Management at Durham University in Durham, England.

As a student-athlete, Dresen was a vital part of the Quincy volleyball program and is currently fourth in program history in assists with 1,834, with over 1,000 of those assists coming as a senior.

Dresen resides in the greater Milwaukee area.
