Inferno can't slow down Muskie offense

PLYMOUTH, WIS.--The Alverno College volleyball team dropped a NACC contest to Lakeland Univeristy Saturday afternoon.

Alverno started the match with a quick 4-1 advantage. Lakeland responed with a run of their own taking the lead at 13-8. Lakeland would not surrender the lead for the rest of the set, taking set one 25-17.

The Muskie momentum carried over to the second set as Lakeland quickly jumped out to a 7-1 lead. After an Inferno timeout, Lakeland extended their lead to 18-7. A 7-0 run to close the set saw Lakeland hold a 2-0 hold on the Inferno.

Lakeland continued to score in the third set jumping out to 15-9 early. A final kill for Lakeland sealed the match for the Muskies 25-16. 

Cailey Jeske finished the match with 10 kills. Sam Korn added 16 assists, while three Inferno players finished with four kills. 

Alverno returns to Reiman Gymnasium Tuesday, Oct. 17 for a non-conference match with Lake Forest. Start time is set for 7:30.
