Inferno Fall in NACC Action

AURORA, ILL.—The Alverno College volleyball team dropped a NACC match against Aurora University 3-0.

The Spartans opened the first set scoring seven unanswered points. Aurora then went on to connect on three straight points to widen their lead at 13-4. The Spartans closed the set with a 6-0 run to take the set 25-9.

The Spartans again connected runs in the second set opening with a 12-3 lead. However, Alverno retaliated with a run of their own off Spartan attack errors. Alverno was unable to complete the comeback as a service error and an attack error saw the set go in favor of Aurora.

Aurora used the third set to quickly get ahead of the Inferno scoring 10 unanswered points. The sizable lead by the Spartans was too great for the Inferno as they fell 25-5.

Three Inferno players finished the day with five kills. Sam Korn added eight assists while Morgan Lemner added 11 digs to the Inferno effort.

Alverno College return home for a non-conference match against Maranatha Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
