Spartans Stifle Inferno For First Home Loss

MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College suffered its first home loss of the season as it dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match to Aurora University, 3-0, Wednesday night inside Reiman Gymnasium.

The visiting Spartans (9-5, 2-0 NACC) took down the Inferno (2-14, 1-2) by scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-16.

Alverno committed 20 attack and 10 service errors on the night while Aurora hit its way to a .265 attacker percentage.

Jessica Wewers and Cailey Jeske led the Inferno with seven kills apiece, and Alyssa Reinke posted a team-best 11 digs in the match. Jeske added a pair of service aces.

Next up for Alverno is a rematch at crosstown rival Mount Mary University Friday at 4 p.m. The Inferno topped the Blue Angels 3-0 in the season opener.
