RIPON, Wisconsin -- Alverno College lost its first match at the Ripon College Quadrangular, 3-0, to North Central College Friday night inside Wyman Gymnasium.
The Cardinals improved to 3-0 while the Inferno fell to an even 1-1 on the young season with the 25-9, 25-13, 25-12 result.
Alverno struggled with the attack as the squad committed 17 errors and connected for just 13 kills in the three-setter. Conversely, NCC tallied 29 kills and had just six miscues on offense.
Cailey Jeske led the Inferno with six kills on offense, and four blocks (3 block assists, 1 solo) on the defensive side of the net.
Alverno continues play at the Ripon Quad Saturday versus the host Red Hawks at 10 a.m. and takes on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 12:30 p.m. Ripon topped UW-River Falls in Friday's other match, 3-1.
