MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College senior Danielle Schilawski became the Inferno's career digs leader in the 2016 season opener as Alverno swept visiting Mount Mary University, 3-0, Thursday night inside Reiman Gymnasium.

The Inferno (1-0) service game keyed the win with 17 aces, while the hosts' serve receive committed just one error on the night.

Cailey Jeske tallied match-highs of seven kills and six aces and Jessica Wewers added six kills and five aces. Schilawski added three aces while Alyssa Reinke led all with 12 digs and Sam Korn registered a team-best 11 assists.

Alverno took the first two sets 25-8 and 25-14, but the Blue Angels (0-1) made it interesting in the third, 25-20.

The Inferno hits the road tomorrow for a quadrangular up at Ripon College to begin a string of nine consecutive road matches.
