Falcons Sweep Inferno In Home Finale

MILWAUKEE -- The home portion of Alverno College's season was closed out Friday night in Reiman Gymnasium, but the Inferno came out on the losing side of a 3-0 sweep to visiting Concordia University Wisconsin.

The Falcons (15-9, 8-2 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) won 25-16, 25-13, 25-19 over the Inferno (7-20, 0-10 NACC).

Alverno managed just a .013 hitting percentage on the night as CUW's block was in force with 11 team stops. Melissa Weyand managed a .154 attack despite the Falcons' defense, and tied for match-high honors with nine kills. Naomi Jordan added five kills on 10 attempts.

Danielle Schilawski led the Inferno defense with a match-best 12 digs, while Alyssa Reinke and Jessica Wewers each tallied a pair of block assists.

The season comes to a close Saturday night for Alverno, as it travels to take on host Dominican University at 7 p.m. in River Forest, Illinois.
