CUC Serves Up Alverno Loss

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia University Chicago served up 18 aces en route to a 3-1 victory over visiting Alverno College Saturday evening in Geiseman Gymnasium.

After a 25-14 opening-set loss, the Inferno (7-16, 0-6 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) evened the match at one set apiece with a 25-22 victory in the second.

Yet the Cougars (8-11, 3-2 NACC) rolled to 25-10 and 25-11 third and fourth set wins to clinch the match.

Cailey Jeske led the Alverno attack with eight kills, while Jessica Wewers and Melissa Weyand added six apiece.

Weyand and Danielle Schilawski anchored the defense with 14 and 13 digs, while Wewers had four blocks and Meranda Masse added three.

Next up for the Inferno is a match at crosstown foe Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday at 7 p.m.
