HANCOCK, Mich. -- Meranda Masse became Alverno College's all-time assists leader as the Inferno went 2-2 at the Finlandia Invitational Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Alverno (6-11) lost to host Finlandia University in five sets (16-25, 25-16, 25-19, 19-25, 16-14) and defeated Silver Lake College in four (14-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-12) Friday.

Saturday, Maranatha Baptist University topped the Inferno 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-13) before Alverno downed Great Lakes Christian College 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-7).

Masse's seventh of 20 assists versus Maranatha (10-5) gave her 1,282 career assists, which passed the Inferno's former leader, Kim Reuter.

In Alverno's sweep of Great Lakes (0-19), the Inferno served up 25 aces for a new single-match school record, six more than the former record of 19 which was done on two occasions.

Genevieve Bauman had 10 of the aces, which tied the individual single-match record.

Melissa Weyand recorded double-doubles in both Friday matches with 13 kills and 12 digs against the Lions (6-11), and 14 kills and 19 digs versus the Lakers (4-12).

After eight consecutive road matches, Alverno returns home for a nonconference match against Maranatha Tuesday in Reiman Gymnasium.
