MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Dominican University kept its Northern Athletics Collegiate College record unblemished as the Stars swept Alverno College, 3-0, Saturday evening in Reiman Gymnasium.

The Inferno (9-14, 0-7 NACC) led by as many as five in the opening set, but the Stars (16-8, 6-0) rallied for a 16-15 lead and took the opener, 25-19.

In the second set Dominican led the entire way and cruised to a 25-13 win to go up 2-0 in the match. The Inferno had a match-low six kills in the set along with a match-high four errors for just a .083 attack percentage, while the Stars hit .357.

Again the Inferno led a majority of the third, in which neither team led by more than three points. With a 20-17 advantage, the Inferno let the Stars go ahead 23-20, but the Inferno then took back the lead 24-23 on a Chelsey Powless service ace.

The Stars attack tied the set back up, the lead changed sides once more, and after three more ties at 25, 26 and 27-all, Dominican finished off the set and match with back-to-back kills, 29-27.

The Inferno finished the match with an impressive .225 attack percentage, but the Stars outshined the hosts with a .373 mark and eight service aces.

Emily Ortner and Cali Trepp led Alverno with nine and seven kills apiece, while Meranda Masse and Powless directed the attack with 12 and 10 assists.
