MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Dominican University kept its Northern Athletics Collegiate College record unblemished as the Stars swept Alverno College, 3-0, Saturday evening in Reiman Gymnasium.
The Inferno (9-14, 0-7 NACC) led by as many as five in the opening set, but the Stars (16-8, 6-0) rallied for a 16-15 lead and took the opener, 25-19.
In the second set Dominican led the entire way and cruised to a 25-13 win to go up 2-0 in the match. The Inferno had a match-low six kills in the set along with a match-high four errors for just a .083 attack percentage, while the Stars hit .357.
Again the Inferno led a majority of the third, in which neither team led by more than three points. With a 20-17 advantage, the Inferno let the Stars go ahead 23-20, but the Inferno then took back the lead 24-23 on a Chelsey Powless service ace.
The Stars attack tied the set back up, the lead changed sides once more, and after three more ties at 25, 26 and 27-all, Dominican finished off the set and match with back-to-back kills, 29-27.
The Inferno finished the match with an impressive .225 attack percentage, but the Stars outshined the hosts with a .373 mark and eight service aces.
Trepp and Danielle Schilawski tallied a team-high 10 digs apiece to lead the defense.
Alverno will look to rebound and snap its current six-match skid on Friday, as the Inferno hosts Concordia University Wisconsin at 7 p.m.
