Alverno Blocked By Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. -- Visiting Alverno College lost a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match to host Benedictine University, 3-0, tonight in the Rice Center.

The defending NACC co-champion Eagles (6-8, 3-0 NACC) recorded nine team blocks on the night, which accounted for nearly half of the Inferno's attack errors.

Alverno (7-6, 1-2) led the first set 3-1, but Benedictine made it short lived for the 25-16 final. The Eagles never trailed in the second and third sets which they won 25-15 and 25-10.

Alverno had a negative hitting percentage on the night and was limited to just 12 kills, led by Emily Ortner's six. Cali Trepp led the Inferno defense with nine digs.

Next up for the Inferno is the Silver Lake College Lakers on Thursday. First serve is at 7 p.m. in Reiman Gymnasium on the Alverno campus.
