ST. LOUIS -- The Alverno College volleyball team was unable to pull out the upset as the Inferno lost to No. 24 Juniata College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-12), in the final game of the Halloween Invite hosted by Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday.
The Eagles (21-11) had 46 kills, compared to the Inferno's 15 in the match, and also held a 7-2 advantage on service aces.
Emma Ortner led the Inferno with seven kills, Reagan Owen had a team-high 13 assists in the senior's final match, and Ortner and Cali Trepp had a team-best seven digs apiece.
The Eagles' Rachelle Wiegand had a match-high 12 kills and added 10 digs for a double-double.
The Inferno, which played a second top 25 opponent in as many days, lost its 15th-straight match and finished the season 3-25 overall.
