Regents Stifle Inferno, 3-1

MILWAUKEE -- The visiting Rockford College Regents defeated host Alverno College in a Northern Athletics Conference match this afternoon in Reiman Gymnasium.

The Regents (4-14, 1-4 NAC) won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-23, before the Inferno (3-14, 0-5 NAC) took set three, 25-18, only to let the Regents breeze to decisive 25-16 fourth-set victory which clinched the match, 3-1.

Alverno had a slightly better attack percentage (.105) than Rockford (.103) in the match, but the Regents committed only two attack errors in the final set for a .241 percentage in the final frame.

Mariah Arterberry and Cali Trepp led the Inferno attack with 11 kills apiece, while Emma Ortner and Reagan Owen chipped in nine and seven.

Ortner had a match-high 20 digs and Arterberry had team-best three total blocks (one solo) to lead the defense for the hosts.

Trepp also added 14 digs and Owen 11, as each recorded a double-double for the second-straight match.

Rockford's Nicole Lawler led all scorers with 18.5 points on a match-high 13 kills, three service aces and four total blocks (one solo).

The Inferno is next in action in a NAC match at Marian University on Tuesday.
