Inferno swept at Lawrence Quad

APPLETON, Wis. -- Alverno lost three matches today at the Lawrence Quadrangular in Alexander Gymnasium.

The Inferno lost the opening match, 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-10) to Cardinal Stritch, followed by a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-14) loss to Edgewood and finally a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-17) loss to the host Vikings.

The rough day drops the Inferno to 2-10 overall this season.

Linda Vang (Manitowoc, Wis/Lincoln) led the Inferno's offensive attack with 25 kills on the day, which included a match-high 13 versus Lawrence. The senior lefty finished the day with a .234 attack percentage and also added a pair of blocks on defense.

Sarah Acitelli (Villa Park, Ill./Willowbrook) had four service aces in 24 attempts to lead Alverno's 11 on the day.

Reagan Owen (Salina, Kan./Central) had a team-high 34 digs in the three matches, while Morgan Stuckey (Duncanville, Texas) added 27 and Shelby Metzger (Montreal, Mo./ Camdenton) added 21.

The team will take on Lakeland in their next match on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The road match is set for a 7 p.m. start in Plymouth, Wis.
