The Alverno tennis team took part in a busy afternoon of action on Saturday as the team competed against the Edgewood Eagles and the MSOE Raiders on the road. Against Edgewood, the Inferno were not able to win a match, however later in the day the Inferno notched one win against MSOE, falling by an 8-1 score.
The Alverno tennis team got its season started on Saturday with a trip to North Park to take on the host Vikings while also competing against the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors. Against the Vikings, the Inferno fell by a score of 9-0, before taking a pair of matches against the Warriors in a 7-2 loss.
As voted on by Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference head coaches and approved by the Directors of Athletics Standing Committee, Alverno College was honored with the NACC Women's Sportsmanship Award for the 2016-17 academic year.
The Alverno College Department of Athletics honored its teams and student-athletes from the 2016-17 academic year during the Alverno College Inferno Athletics Awards Program in Wehr Hall Friday evening.
Third-seeded Alverno College lost to second-seeded Edgewood College, 5-0, in a semifinal of the 2017 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Sunday afternoon at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
