Tennis Welcomes Five to Roster with Incoming Freshman Class

MILWAUKEE – On Monday, Alverno tennis head coach Fabio Perasso has announced the addition of five newcomers to the roster for the upcoming fall 2019 season.

Alverno is entering the 2019 campaign after posting just two wins a season ago, but with the revamped roster added to the returning unit, the Inferno will look to make a push and make waves within the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

This season gets underway with a pair of non-conference matches on Friday, August 30, when the team visits Carroll University in nearby Waukesha, Wis. to take on host Carroll at 12 p.m., followed by a matchup with Bryant & Stratton College later in the afternoon.

Below are comments by Perasso about each of his incoming student-athletes.

Kalei Hanna | Beloit, Wisconsin | Beloit Memorial High School

"Kalei is a freshman coming from Beloit High School. She played in the number one doubles pair and number four in singles during her high school season. During her visit to Alverno, she loved the school, academics, and the tennis team! She is excited to start her collegiate tennis career and we are really looking forward to having her as a part of the team."

Merub Irfan | Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Washington High School of Information Technology

"Merub is an incoming freshman. She played in high school as number three in singles. During her most recent high school season she improved exponentially. She strives to get better day after day and her passion is contagious. I hope to have this spirit spread throughout her career here at Alverno."

Anna Nikolich | Shorewood, Wisconsin | Shorewood High School

"Anna played for Shorewood High School as number one and number two in doubles. She truly loves playing tennis and she can't wait to get to know the other teammates. She also loved Alverno College during her visit because, "everybody seemed so nice and friendly". We are very excited to have her as a part of the Alverno tennis team."

Monserrat Sanchez-Gutierrez | Milwaukee, Wisconson | Hamilton High School

"Monserrat is an incoming freshman from Hamilton High School. She played in high school as number number three in doubles. She is looking forward to improve her tennis skills while getting a business degree. We are very excited to have her apart of the tennis team."

Maisheng Thor | Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Rufus King High School

"Maisheng played for Rufus King High School. She is really excited to play for the tennis team, and is so happy about have chosen Alverno College so that she could play tennis while going to school. Welcome to the team Maisheng!"
