Alverno Sweeps NACC Competition

RACINE, WIS.--The Alverno College tennis squad swept on Saturday afternoon with victories over Aurora and Dominican University. 

Both matches were moved due to weather conditions saw Alverno beat Aurora University in the opening match of the day 5-4. Alverno made quick work of Dominican in the final match winning 8-1. 

Alverno swept Dominican in singles competition starting with No. 2 Jessie West collecting the victory 6-1, 6-1. Lia Hutchins followed the winning fashion getting the win 6-2, 6-3. Dani Hood defeated her competition 6-3, 6-1. Lorinn Knoblauch follwed suit winning 6-2, 6-1. Rounding out the scoring for the Inferno was Alexandria Malicki winning 6-0, 6-0. 

In doubles competition the team of Michelle Alexander and Jessie West claimed victory 8-4. No. doubles team consisting of Lia Hutchins and Dani Hood cruised to victory 8-4. Lorinn Knoblauch and Alexandria Malicki finished the Inferno scoring 8-0. 

During the Aurora match, Jessie West defeated her competition in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-1. Dani Hood took the victory 7-5, 7-6, 9-7. Sophomore Alexandria Malicki rounded out the Inferno scoring in singles competition 6-1, 6-2. On the doubles side, the team of Lia Hutchins and Dani Hood took the victory 8-4. Lastly, the team of Lorinn Knoblauch and Alexandria Malicki won their match 8-3. 

Alverno College will play their final match of the 2017 season with Marian University coming to resume their match that was postponed earlier this season. Start time is set for Sunday, Oct 8 at 10 a.m.
