Inferno Tops Vikings For Split On Day

MENOMONIE, Wisconsin -- Alverno College topped Bethany Lutheran College, 7-2, and lost to host University of Wisconsin-Stout, 7-2, Saturday afternoon on the Stout campus.

The Inferno (5-6) swept doubles action against the Vikings (0-4). Brooke McBain and Laeren Yates won at No. 1, 8-2, Michelle Alexander and Libby Kent at No. 2, 9-7, and Lia Hutchins and Makayla Butler at No. 3, 8-1.

McBain (6-1, 6-2 at No.1), Alexander (6-0, 6-1 at No. 2), Yates (6-0, 6-0 at No. 3) and Kent (6-1, 6-1 at No. 6) all came away with straight-set victories in singles play for the Inferno's fifth dual victory of the season.

The Blue Devils (4-2) started the contest strong in the nightcap with three doubles wins.

Yates won her No. 3 singles match, 6-1, 6-3, and McBain battled for a 5-7, 7-6 (4), 10-6, win at No. 1 singles for the lone Alverno points of the match.

Next up is a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual against crosstown foe Milwaukee School of Engineering Monday at Greenfield H.S. at 6 p.m.
