Waltz Introduces Incoming Class for 2019 Alverno Soccer Roster

MILWAUKEE – Fourth-year head coach Lisa Waltz has announced her incoming class for the 2019 soccer season. The class of 10 student-athletes is one of the largest in program history, and with the talented group making its way to Milwaukee, the group will look to join the returning group of Inferno and look to build off of last season's five-win campaign.

Joining the Inferno in 2019 will be Makenzie Bermudez, Alondra Cervantes, Alyssa Cracraft, Ashley Flores, Faith Josko, Caitlin Laurenson, Samantha Martinez, Katie Shipley, Alexandra Sliwinski, and Elva Soto.

Alverno's soccer season will begin on Friday, August 30, when the Inferno visit Principia for an under-the-lights contest against the Panthers at 8 p.m.

Below are remarks by Waltz regarding each of her incoming student-athletes.

Makenzie Bermudez | Yuma, Arizona | Gila Ridge High School | Goalkeeper

"We are looking at Kenzie to come in and contribute right away as our goalkeeper. Which some might say is too big of a role for any incoming freshman goalkeeper to take, but those people haven't met Makenzie. She is such a talented goalkeeper and I am confident in her abilities and excited for her to take on that role for us this upcoming season."

Alondra Cervantes | Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Cristo Rey Jesuit High School | Forward/Midfield

"Alondra was part of the varsity team at nearby Cristo Rey High School. She has a great passion for the game and will be a player to watch out for in the attacking third this upcoming season."

Alyssa Cracraft | North Las Vegas, Nevada | Coronado High School | Forward/Midfield

"I was so happy when Alyssa committed to playing for us this upcoming season! I think she is going to be a great addition to our team and I am excited for her to be a part of our program!"

Ashley Flores | Demotte, Indiana | Covenant Christian High School | Defense

"Ashley might be one of the hardest working players that we have recruited. She is constantly pushing herself to be the best soccer player she can be. I am really looking forward to her bringing that work ethic and determination to every practice and game this upcoming season."

Faith Josko | Franklin, Wisconsin | Franklin High School | Defense

"Faith was a part of the varsity team at Franklin High School this past season and it is always great getting local players to commit to us. I am really looking forward to her being a part of our team!"

Caitlin Laurenson | New Orleans, Louisiana | Ursuline Academy | Defense

"Caitlin was First Team All-District selection this past season while playing and received the Coach's Award for her high school team. Needless to say we are really looking forward to her continuing her already great soccer career at the collegiate level as part of our inferno family!"

Samantha Martinez | Yuma, Arizona | Gila Ridge High School | Midfield/Defense

"I am so excited to have a player like Sami joining our program! Besides the fact that she is extremely talented on the field, off the field her outgoing personality is contagious! She is going to be a great teammate, a fun player to watch and a player I look forward to coaching every day."

Katie Shipley | Jacksonville, North Carolina | Richlands High School | Forward

"Katie is going to bring so much energy and fun to our program this upcoming season. She isn't afraid to go 1v1 against any defender and her confidence with the ball at her feet is going to make her a player to watch out for this upcoming season."

Alexandra Sliwinski | Green Bay, Wisconsin | Bay Port High School | Midfield/Defense

"I am looking forward to Alexandra being a part of our team this upcoming season. Although, she might not have the player experience as some of the other incoming freshman, she is a great athlete whom I believe will work hard and pick up on things quickly."

Elva Soto | Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Rufus King High School | Defense

"Elva is a transfer student athlete who grew up watching and playing soccer with her family. She has a desire to learn and grow as a player, and I am excited for her to be a part of our team this season."
