MILWAUKEE – On Tuesday, the Alverno soccer team announced its 2019 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference schedule. The league slate will feature 12 conference matchups, which is the most since the 2012 season as Rockford re-joins the league as a women's soccer member.
Last season Alverno knocked off Rockford with a young squad, and have already added a strong talented incoming group to the team as the Inferno will look to make waves in the NACC this coming fall under the direction of fourth-year head coach Lisa Waltz.
The conference schedule will begin with a tall task on Wednesday, September 25 as the Inferno will host the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons to the Alverno Soccer Field for a 4:30 p.m. start.
That weekend will see Alverno head on the road for its first conference road match of the season on Sunday, September 29, when the Inferno visit Lakeland before returning home on Wednesday, October 2nd for a contest against the defending conference champions Dominican. Last year's road match at Dominican was cut short due to weather, as the Inferno and Stars will look to play a full 90 minutes in 2019.
A pair of road games follow as the Inferno will travel to nearby Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday, October 5 for a 3:30 p.m. start against the Warriors. The team will then follow with a trip to Concordia Chicago on October 9 at 3:00 p.m.
Alverno returns home that weekend to host local foe MSOE for a 12 p.m. start on Saturday, October 12 before heading back on the road for a mid-week showdown against Aurora on October 16 for a match under the lights in suburban Chicago.
On Saturday, October 12 the Inferno will welcome Marian to the Alverno Soccer Field for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Sabres before heading on the road for their final two road games of the year against Edgewood on October 23 and Illinois Tech on October 26.
The final two games of the conference slate will pit Alverno against Rockford and Benedictine on back-to-back days as the Inferno welcome Rockford on Tuesday, October 29 for a 3:30 p.m. start, while Benedictine will make its way to Wisconsin for a 3 p.m. start on Wednesday, October 30.
The NACC Championship will begin with first round action on Sunday, November 3 before the semifinals get underway on Wednesday, November 6. A league champion will be ground, along with a berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, on Saturday, November 9 at the highest remaining seed.
