Inferno Downed at Home in NACC Matchup against Aurora

MILWAUKEE – The Alverno soccer team was unable to keep pace with a high-octane Aurora squad on Wednesday afternoon as the Inferno fell to the Spartans by a 10-0 margin on the Alverno Soccer Field.

Alverno's offense was only able to muster two shots as freshman Shaye Wolfe had the team's lone shot on target, while junior Shoua Vang tallied one shot on the afternoon.

On the defensive side of the ball the Inferno stopped 29 shots on the game, including 27 from senior goalkeeper Allison Weick.

Aurora jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead late in the sixth minute before adding a second goal less than two minutes later. The Spartans added four more goals in the half to take a 6-0 lead into the intermission. The second half saw Aurora notch four more goals as the Spartans totaled 70 shots with 39 of those shots coming on target. Aurora also amassed 18 corner kicks in its victory.

Alverno (4-8-0, 0-5-0 NACC) will resume league play on Saturday, when the team hosts the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks for their first-ever conference meeting. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m. on the Alverno Soccer Field.
