RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Alverno soccer team opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on the road on Wednesday afternoon as the Inferno visited Dominican on West Campus Field. The Inferno fell by the score of 14-0.
In goal senior Allison Weick had a career-day with 30 saves as she set a new career high, breaking her previous career-high of 20 set back as a freshman against Concordia Chicago in October of the 2015 season.
The Inferno faced shots early and often throughout the weather-shortened contest as Alverno was outshot 65-0 in the match, while the Stars scored eight in the first half and added another six in the second half of the match.
The contest was halted with 10:08 left in the second half due to lightning in the greater Chicago area.
Alverno (3-4, 0-1 NACC) will look to rebound back at home on the Alverno Soccer Field this Saturday, when the team hosts the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
