MILWAUKEE – Third year head coach Lisa Waltz has announced the 2018 Alverno soccer schedule for the upcoming fall.
This year's slate will feature 19 contests, including 10 contests at home on Alverno Field.
Last season's team featured 12 underclassmen, including 11 freshmen, as the team continues to build off of a season that saw the squad win just one contest.
This year's slate begins with four straight on the road as the year will begin on Sunday, September 2 at Iowa Wesleyan. Later in the week the team will travel to Eureka on September 7 before a trip to Illinois to take on Monmouth for another Sunday matinee.
The Inferno will take on UW-Platteville for a 7 p.m. night contest on Wednesday, September 12 before the 2018 home opener takes place against Blackburn on Saturday the 15th. The following day Alverno will host Finlandia for another 1 p.m. start.
Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference play gets underway on Wednesday, September 19 against the defending conference champion Dominican Stars on the road. The team will return home for a pair of conference matchups with Wisconsin Lutheran on the 22nd before hosting Concordia Chicago on the 26th. The month will wrap up with a road game at Milwaukee School of Engineering before hosting Mount Mary on Sunday the 30th at 4 p.m.
Alverno will host Aurora to kickstart the month of October on the 3rd, before welcoming in conference newcomer Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 6 as part of homecoming activities on the Alverno College campus.
The Inferno will meet Benedictine for the final time as a conference foe on the road before heading to Fond du Lac to take on the Sabres of Marian. Three of the final four games will be at home as the Inferno host Edgewood on October 17 ahead of a date with Lakeland on the 20th.
The final conference game of the year will be on the road at Concordia Wisconsin on October 24, before the regular season comes to a close on Saturday, October 27 at home against Rockford in a non-conference tilt.
