Inferno Come Up Short Against Rockford

ROCKFORD, ILL.--The Alverno College soccer team came up just short against NACC foe Rockford University Sunday afternoon by a final score of 2-1. 

Neither team gained advantage in the first half as the score was tied headed into halftime. Shoua Vang and Lauren Fischer both recored shots on the Rockford keeper but were unable to convert. 

Rockford came out of halftime breaking the tie scoring twice in a span of 38 seconds. Alverno found some chances as Shoua Vang again tried to find the back of the net. Rikki Nelson scored the lone goal for the Inferno on a breakaway. The late comeback for Alverno was not enough as they fell 2-1.

Although not recording a goal, Shoua Vang finished with five shots. Rikki Nelson tallied three shots on goal while Crystal Prieto added two. Defensively, Allison Weick made three saves to the five shots she saw. 

Alverno travels to Concordia Chicago Wednesday, Sept. 27 with a kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
