MILWAUKEE—Alverno College Soccer suffered a loss in close contest Saturday evening against Maranatha Baptist 3-0.
The Maranatha Sabercats controlled the first couple minutes before finding the back of the net to take the early lead. Shortly after, they doubled their lead to 2-0.
Alverno would not go away quietly however, as they had opportunities at the end of the half, but were unable to convert. Maranatha would go into halftime with a 2-0 lead. The Sabercats offense would find the net again late in the game to seal the victory 3-0.
The Alverno Inferno did have chances to score as Rikki Nelson, Delainey Smith and Lauren Fischer all recorded a shot on goal. Despite the three goals, Allison Weick collected six saves. "We played a lot better in the second half", said Head Coach Lisa Waltz. "Every game we are getting better, which is a positive."
Alverno will look to put this one behind them as they take on Westminster College with a kickoff set for 12:30 pm.
